Quote from Gougoodthing :What about texas?

Relations between IndyCar and TMS are still pretty cold after the safety related controversies preceding the 2012 race.

I would imagine that negotiating a contract extension (for a single header race) was enough of a hassle like that.

Quote from JosTheBoss! :gause not all servers have done that update,
and the servers that did are mostly empty now,
like cargame those server were always full,
since that stupid update they are empty!! :S

No one forced them to upgrade their server.

They could've stayed on the latest stable patch(0.6 B) if they wanted to.

If you want to blame someone, blame cargame, for not realising that their fanbase is too mentally challenged to deal with test patches accordingly.

(no hard feelings cargame, kudos to you for helping the devs with the testing process, even if it means losing a few players for a little while)

I didn't realise that LFS was so popular in Turkey(mostly thanks to demo land I suppose).

Anyway, it's pretty sad that 2013 might be the first American Open Wheel season with no airport race since 1981.

A little bit of the sport's history and diversity going away... Not cool

Quote from Mysho :Tedeschi's roll in practice session

That guy was already racing F3s in early 1980s according to Racing Database. Even took part in the 87 Macau GP. Talk about a blast from the past...

Quote from Mustangman759 :no probably not, but it is a good circuit

Yes it is, of course... My point is, if IndyCar(aswell as most high profile international motorsports series) was picking tracks based on track layout qualify only, we'd be looking at a totally different calendar right now.

Making up fictional motorsports calendars can be a fun game, but it's just a fantasy land thing.

Should/would/could are nice, but can they pony up the 7 figures sanctioning fee? Do they really want to anyway?

Quote from rockclan :As I was trying to reply yesterday, but my connection did not allowed me.

Since past race we have added a new rule being:
- One must stay with atleast two wheels on the normal road/line. May he gain time by breaking this rule. A penalty will be given.

I appreciate the effort, but:
  • How are you going to enforce that rule? Random checks?
  • Could you please define "normal road/line"? For example, at the second chicane of sector 2, where's the limit? I assume that having 3 wheels or more on the rumble-strips is not allowed, correct?
  • Let's assume that a large majority of the field breaks the rule one way or the other. Are you ready a significant penalty to everyone who breaks the rule?

Some 0.00 finishes. All were recorded on cargame.nl.

The first one was in a 6 laps XR2 race at KY2, with S K.Raudsepp(in the blue, ABBA sponsored car).

The second one was in a 5 laps LX4 race at WE1R, with CR|troy(green/white LX4). Even though it looks like he crossed the line first on the replay, LFS gave me the win.

Then the third one was in a 4 laps LX4/XRT race at AS5, with MsrKotetu(in the red LX4). It doesn't look as close as the others, but LFS recorded it as a 0.00 finish - perhaps because of lag(MsrKotetu is from Japan), or maybe the cars' respective "transponders" are put in vastly different places. But anyway, this one race was very interesting.

It was at AS5, and with the track's enormous straights and the long sweeping corners, there were massive contrasts in the respective strengths and weaknesses of our cars. Yet our lap times were very closely matched somehow. I kept passing him with the straight-line speed of my XRT - sometimes the speed differential was around 40kph at the speed traps - but then he kept re-passing me in the corners thanks to the superior handling of his LX4. Fantastic stuff.

How awesome is that? Racing closely and cleanly with a guy from the other side of Earth, with two extremely different cars, and ending up with a photo finish in the end. It's races like this that keep my faith in LFS.

I would like to point out that the 2nd apex of the 2nd sector chicane remains very easy to cut.

Please check the attachments. Even with the barrier literally going through the front left corner, the driver and the rear left corner(plus the stack of tyres going through the car), I didn't lose a single kph, and my XRR did not sustain any damage. I then went on to set a PB - in the same lap.

I believe it has something to do with the fact that LFS' collision model still does not work very well when it comes to high speed contacts with custom objects.

The cutting issue will mostly cause a problem in qualifying, though. During the race, the risks involved(damage and/or high speed crash) are too huge for the potential rewards.

On another topic: the official server's !top list is still filled with times set on the previous layout. But since the current layout doesn't seem much slower than the previous one, it's not a real issue.

That layout looks interresting, so I'll try to make it.

I need to leave shortly after 22:00, so if the start gets delayed for whatever reason, I'll most likely have to sit out the race.

Quote from Storm_Cloud :
It'd be nice if he got a second chance in Europe with GP2 or World Series. Expensive though

What's the point? He's been around forever for F1 standards. Even if he somehow manages to win a GP2/WSR title(easier said than done, especially after 4 years racing overseas) the mentality is such that he's probably not gonna be given another chance by a F1 team - especially now that Honda is gone. And there's no real point racing in GP2/WSR if you can't aim for F1 - waste of time and money(granted, his family seems to be quite rich).

He's probably better off in sports car racing... or maybe he could become the new IndyCar supersub for road and street courses in the meantime. Maybe a partial season in Ed Carpenter's #20 if Ed focusses on ovals?

Kudos to Mike for having the guts and the honesty to make such a difficult decision... because this probably means the end of his IndyCar career more or less.

Before anyone criticise or make fun of him, let's not forget that the guy had the balls to come back after this...:

... and this:

But oh well, the only good thing out of this is that Wade Cunningham gets another shot. Which is hugely deserved, especially after his early DNF(mechanical) at his last outing in May.

Quote from Mustafur :Atleast it looks as though he dismissal was reputation related not bad ties with the team, possible seat for him in the 3 car next year?

You mean the 2 right? Helio isn't going anywere.

It seems to be either RHR, Briscoe or nothing for the 2.

Let alone the recent events, I really don't see the Captain giving a shot to a guy who hasn't raced in open wheels for more than 6 years.

Interresting to have a race with an unusual and overlooked car. The race was a bit frustrating for me personally though, the combo is so hard on the left rear corner, I spend most of the race monitoring the tyre temperatures - and unsuccessfully chasing Kid.

Quote from Kid222 :Just sorry to Yvann, i think it was more of my fault.

You did turn into the corner a bit abruptly indeed. But on the other hand, there was still a lot of place on the inside for me to hide. However, I dived from so way back, and carried so much speed through the corner, that I drifted wide, lost control and ended in your door panel.

In the end it's fairly 50-50 IMHO.

I don't regret for trying something however, I knew I wasn't going to have many opportunities to pass.

Quote from Sueycide_FD :Need replays from leagues that feature a dominant XRG/XRT/XRR. I need several of each vehicle. No banger or drifting and i would prefer if the leagues were multi-make so no full field of XRG/XRT/XRR.

XRG: http://www.spdoracing.com/eventdb/competition/456
XRR: http://www.spdoracing.com/eventdb/competition/511
XR2[maybe not "dominant", but very closely matched with FZ2]: http://www.spdoracing.com/eventdb/competition/592

Many skins are probably taken out of LFSW, but you should be able to find them back on LFSF(especially for IGTC/GTAL).
